Questions about this product

Why choose triploid grass carp for pond weed control?

Our triploid grass carp offer an economical, long-term way to manage aquatic vegetation and keep more of your pond open for fishing and recreation. Although the initial purchase may seem expensive, their ongoing grazing can cost far less over time than repeated aquatic herbicide applications and service visits.

Triploid grass carp are sterile, so they cannot reproduce and create an expanding population in your pond. You get the benefits of ongoing grazing while controlling how many fish you stock.

For pond owners and HOAs managing recurring weed growth, triploid grass carp can reduce both maintenance work and ongoing weed-control expenses. They’re especially appealing when you want to limit herbicide use in a pond where your family fishes.

Choose your stocking package based on your pond’s surface acreage and vegetation coverage. The goal is straightforward: invest in fish that keep working as they grow, rather than paying repeatedly to manage the same problem.

What does triploid mean for grass carp?

Triploid fish have three sets of chromosomes instead of the usual two. All triploid grass carp are sterile. Check the requirements for your stocking location and contact us before ordering if you need help confirming permits or certification.

How quickly will grass carp reduce vegetation?

Grass carp work gradually as they feed and grow. Results depend on the plants, plant coverage, water conditions and fish stocked. Visible control may take more than one growing season. Review plant coverage and the fish already stocked before deciding whether to add more.

How do I determine how many fish to stock?

Start with your pond’s surface acreage and review each species’ product description for available stocking guidance, fish sizes and package quantities. Where initial and supplemental stocking recommendations are listed, choose the one that matches your pond. Review each species separately rather than applying one stocking rate to every fish.

How do I confirm my delivery date?

Place your triploid grass carp order by the end of Thursday for delivery the following Tuesday. Each fish is triploid-certified specifically for your order on Friday morning. We prepare the fish over the weekend and ship on Monday for Tuesday delivery. Orders placed after Thursday’s cutoff move to the next weekly shipping cycle. This schedule is subject to permitting requirements, weather and federal holiday delays. We’ll notify you of your delivery date before shipping. Someone must be ready to receive the fish upon delivery and stock them within 15 minutes.

Can the fish sit on my porch until I get home?

No. Arrange for someone to be present when FedEx delivers, receive the fish immediately and introduce them into their prepared pond or tank within 15 minutes of the logged delivery time. Direct sun, extreme heat or extreme cold can quickly become fatal. If nobody can be there, contact us before the shipment is scheduled.
